There were two listed, one was U2 and one was U4 after the name. I deleted the printer from Printers and Settings. So this morning, frustrated after reading the responses I tried something that WORKED. Firewall doesn't matter, whether it works or doesn't work doesn't depend on it, I have found. So I had tried everything, and can see the printer from the remote UI. It printed my document plus about 3 test pages haha. Yesterday after trying to get it to print for an hour, all of a sudden it just started printing on it's own. I have been having the exact problem detailed for the last couple months. Keeping my fingers crossed and hope this lasts. Printer then worked without further issues. After printer addition, it's easy to rename the entry from IP address to a normal name. Using that IP address in my Mac's Add printer / "+" function, I was able to discover the printer instantly and add it. On the printer's mini-display screen, I found the printer's IP under Status Monitor (lower right corner) -> Network Information -> IPv4. Instead of using the "+" button to auto-discover and add a printer (which the Mac was not able to rediscover my printer), I chose the tab "IP" add the printer by IP address. I decided to try something different this time.

Previously I solved this by completely reinstall the printer driver after dropping the printer definition on my Mac. This leads me to suspect a device driver issue on the Mac. Stateless addresses are discarded when the machine is restarted (or turned ON).Īn address obtained from a DHCP server using DHCPv6.I have been experiencing the same problem from my Mac (periodic drop of connection to printer), but my Windows and Linux systems work fine with my MF642Cdw. When using this address, specify the prefix length and default router address.Īn address that is generated automatically using the MAC address of the machine and the network prefix that is advertised by the router. A link-local address is automatically set when the IPv6 function of the machine is enabled.Īn address that is entered manually.

The machine can use up to nine of the following IPv6 addresses:Īn address that is only valid within a subnet or link and cannot be used to communicate with devices beyond a router.

Note that the scan function that uses the scanner driver or MF Toolbox is not available in an IPv6 environment. You need to set the correct IPv4 settings to use IPv6 addresses. Before setting IPv6 addresses, check the IPv4 address settings. The IPv6 addresses of the machine can be configured via the Remote UI.
